Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data Kugo collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect
We collect account identifiers from Google sign-in, profile settings such as language and dialect preferences, and content you submit including words, notes, votes, and audio recordings.
2. How We Use Information
Data is used to operate the platform, personalize your learning and contribution experience, verify cultural content quality, and improve preservation outcomes for the Marakwet community.
3. Cultural Content and Visibility
Submissions to Kugo may be visible to other users and, for public pages, to visitors. This includes contributed text and associated metadata needed for dictionary and archive quality.
4. Audio Processing
Audio recordings may be processed for pronunciation review and IPA suggestion workflows. These outputs support community review and long-term linguistic documentation.
5. Data Sharing & Commercial Use
We do not sell personal data. Content you contribute — including text entries and audio recordings — may be used by Kugo for commercial purposes, such as producing books, learning resources, courses, and other technology products. Information may also be shared with trusted service providers strictly to host, secure, and operate Kugo. Public archive data may be accessible for educational and research use.
6. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide services and preserve linguistic records, unless deletion is requested and permitted by applicable obligations.
7. Email Newsletters and Service Messages
If you sign in to Kugo, we may send periodic email newsletters with product updates, language learning resources, and community highlights. You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in those messages. We may still send essential non-promotional emails related to account security, legal updates, or important service notices.
8. Your Rights
You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting themarakwets@gmail.com or hello@rodgerslabs.com.
9. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
10. Third-Party Donation Processing
If you choose to support Kugo through Ko-fi, payment processing and related transaction data are handled by Ko-fi as an independent third-party service. Kugo does not store your full payment card details. Please review Ko-fi's terms and privacy policy before donating.
11. Policy Updates
We may update this policy as features and legal requirements evolve. Updates are posted on this page with a revised effective date.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kugo and Rodgers Labs accept no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this platform, reliance on any content, or the processing and commercial use of contributed material. Use of Kugo is at your own risk.
